The reverse features Philip Nathan’s standing Britannia wearing a Corinthian helmet and holding a trident, Union Flag shield and olive branch. The surrounding inscriptions record the Britannia name, year, one-ounce weight and .999 silver fineness. The obverse carries Ian Rank-Broadley’s fourth definitive portrait of Queen Elizabeth II. Textured bullion fields appear around the designs. The 2015 bullion issue retains Ian Rank-Broadley’s fourth portrait, despite Jody Clark’s fifth definitive effigy being introduced to other UK coinage during the year.

The Silver Britannia was introduced by The Royal Mint in 1997, ten years after the first Gold Britannia. Since 2013, the one-ounce silver bullion coin has been struck from .999 fine silver. Philip Nathan’s standing Britannia remains the defining image of the bullion series, combining her trident, Union Flag shield and olive branch as symbols of maritime strength, national identity and peace.
