Perth Stamp and Coin Show Special Year of the Snake Double Happiness 2025 $1 1oz .9999 Fine Silver Coloured Coin in Card – Perth Mint
Celebrate the 2025 Chinese Year of the Snake with this highly collectable Perth Stamp and Coin Show Special Double Happiness 1oz Silver Coloured Coin, produced by The Perth Mint from 1 Troy Ounce of .9999 fine silver.
Created especially for the Perth Stamp and Coin Show, held from 7–9 March 2025, this distinctive Australian legal-tender coin combines the symbolism of the lunar snake with the traditional Chinese concept of Double Happiness.
The coin is presented inside its original illustrated Perth Stamp and Coin Show card, creating a complete display piece commemorating both the Year of the Snake and the 2025 numismatic event. Only 1,500 examples were released in this special show-card presentation, making it considerably more limited than standard Year of the Snake bullion releases.
Double Happiness
Deeply rooted in Chinese culture, Double Happiness symbolises love, joy, unity and marital harmony. The motif is traditionally associated with weddings and the bringing together of two people, representing enduring happiness and a prosperous life shared together.
The reverse design cleverly portrays two coloured snakes arranged in the form of the Chinese Double Happiness symbol. Ornamental floral motifs appear on either side, enhancing the coin’s celebratory appearance and reinforcing its themes of growth, unity and good fortune.
This combination of lunar symbolism and Double Happiness makes the coin particularly suitable as a wedding, anniversary or milestone gift, as well as an attractive addition to a collection of Chinese cultural or lunar-themed precious metals.
Celebrating the Year of the Snake
The snake is the sixth animal represented in the traditional Chinese lunar calendar.
In Chinese mythology, the snake is associated with wisdom, elegance, patience and intuition. Those born during a Year of the Snake are traditionally regarded as thoughtful, observant and intelligent, possessing the patience and determination required to achieve their goals.
The Year of the Snake is also associated with personal growth and self-discovery, where careful thought and considered decisions create a path towards future success.
Alongside 2025, previous Years of the Snake include 2013, 2001, 1989, 1977 and 1965, making this coin a meaningful gift for anyone born during one of these lunar years.
Coloured Double Snake Design
The coin’s reverse features two beautifully coloured snakes intertwined to represent the Chinese Double Happiness motif.
Detailed floral elements appear to the left and right of the central design, creating an elegant and balanced composition. The selective colour application provides a striking contrast against the natural brilliance of the pure silver surface.
Also included are the inscription ‘YEAR OF THE SNAKE 2025’, the corresponding Chinese characters and The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
The design combines Chinese cultural symbolism with the craftsmanship for which The Perth Mint’s Australian Lunar releases have become internationally recognised.
H.M. King Charles III Obverse
The obverse displays the Dan Thorne effigy of His Majesty King Charles III.
The portrait is accompanied by the inscriptions identifying King Charles III, Australia and the coin’s official monetary denomination. With a face value of $1 AUD, the coin is issued as legal tender of Australia.
One Troy Ounce of .9999 Fine Silver
Each coin is struck from 1 Troy Ounce of 99.99% pure silver, with a minimum gross weight of 31.107g.
Measuring approximately 40.90mm in diameter, the coin provides a generous surface for the detailed snake artwork and coloured floral elements. Its combination of pure silver, cultural symbolism and exclusive event packaging gives it considerably greater collectable appeal than a standard one-ounce bullion coin.
Perth Stamp and Coin Show Special Presentation
This special edition is housed inside an original illustrated presentation card created specifically for the 2025 Perth Stamp and Coin Show.
The card carries the inscriptions ‘YEAR OF THE SNAKE’ and ‘PERTH STAMP & COIN SHOW SPECIAL 7–9 MARCH 2025’, recording the event for which this edition was released.
The original card protects the coin whilst providing an attractive ready-to-display presentation. Retaining the official packaging is especially important for event-exclusive releases, as it identifies the coin as part of the limited Perth Stamp and Coin Show allocation.
Limited Show Edition
Only 1,500 coins were issued in the Perth Stamp and Coin Show Special presentation card.
This limited allocation, combined with the Double Happiness design and official event-dated packaging, makes it one of the more distinctive 2025 Year of the Snake releases produced by The Perth Mint.
Its appeal extends across several collecting themes, including Australian coins, Chinese zodiac designs, coloured silver, Perth Mint lunar issues and exclusive international coin-show releases.
