Celebrate one of Australia’s most cheerful native animals with the 2023 Australian Quokka 1oz Silver Bullion Coin from The Perth Mint. Struck from one troy ounce of 99.99% pure silver, this charming legal-tender release is supplied in a protective acrylic capsule.

Designed by Aleysha Howarth, the reverse portrays a happy-looking quokka sitting upright among native vegetation. The design includes the “QUOKKA” inscription, The Perth Mint’s traditional “P” mintmark and a micro-laser-engraved authentication feature.

The obverse carries Jody Clark’s Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Effigy with the dates “1952–2022”. With a final declared mintage of only 29,846 coins, the release offers an attractive combination of precious-metal content, Australian wildlife artwork and historical collectability.

Micro-Laser Authentication Feature

For additional security, the reverse incorporates a tiny micro-laser-engraved letter within the design.

The 2023 Quokka Design

Designed by Perth Mint artist Aleysha Howarth, the reverse portrays a happy-looking quokka sitting upright on its hind legs among native vegetation.

The detailed design captures the animal’s friendly appearance and distinctive rounded features. It is accompanied by the inscription “QUOKKA” and The Perth Mint’s traditional “P” mintmark.

Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse

The obverse bears the official Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Obverse designed by Jody Clark.

Her Late Majesty’s portrait is accompanied by the dates of her reign, “1952–2022”, together with the coin’s one-dollar Australian denomination, weight, purity and 2023 year-date.

This special transitional obverse gives the coin additional historical significance as the final Quokka-series release to feature Queen Elizabeth II.

Low Declared Mintage

The Perth Mint authorised a maximum worldwide mintage of 30,000 coins for this release.

Its subsequently published bullion mintage report records a final declared mintage of just 29,846 pieces, making the 2023 Quokka a comparatively scarce one-ounce Australian wildlife coin.

The changing annual artwork also makes each Quokka release a distinct addition to a complete Perth Mint collection.
