Inspired by Edmund Spenser’s The Faerie Queene, the design portrays the gentle Una beside the powerful lion that becomes her loyal protector. The bar also carries the historic Latin inscription “DIRIGE DEUS GRESSUS MEOS”, meaning “May God direct my steps”, linking the release to William Wyon’s celebrated 1839 Una and the Lion coin.
This was the first landscape-oriented bullion bar designed and produced by The Royal Mint. With a reported final mintage of only 21,839 pieces, the release has strong appeal for Royal Mint collectors, silver investors and admirers of historic British designs. This example remains sealed in its original mint packaging.
